1. Incoming Material Inspection
- Verify raw material against purchase orders and material test certificates (MTC).
- Check material grade, dimensions, hardness, and traceability.
- Maintain incoming inspection records.
- Handle supplier quality issues and corrective actions.
2. In-Process Quality Control
- Conduct first-piece inspection during machine setup.
- Verify dimensions using measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier calipers
- Micrometers
- Bore gauges
- Height gauges
- Dial indicators
- Thread gauges
- CMM (if available)
- Monitor critical dimensions during production.
- Approve setup before batch production starts.
3. Final Inspection
- Perform final dimensional and visual inspection of finished components.
- Verify surface finish, threads, geometrical tolerances, and special characteristics.
- Ensure compliance with customer drawings and specifications.
- Release components for dispatch.
4. Quality Documentation
- Prepare and maintain:
- Inspection reports
- First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)
- PPAP Documents
- Process Inspection Reports (PIR)
- Control Plans
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFD)
- PFMEA documents
- Calibration records
- Non-Conformance Reports (NCR)
5. Calibration & Gauge Control
- Maintain calibration schedule for measuring instruments.
- Ensure gauges and instruments are calibrated and traceable.
- Monitor gauge wear and replacement requirements.
- Maintain gauge inventory records.
6. Customer Quality Management
- Handle customer complaints and quality concerns.
- Perform root cause analysis using:
- 5 Why Analysis
- Fishbone Diagram
- 8D Methodology
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate customer audits and inspections.
7. Process Improvement
- Analyze rejection and rework trends.
- Reduce scrap and improve process capability.
- Monitor SPC (Statistical Process Control) data.
- Improve Cp and Cpk values for critical dimensions.
- Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement activities.
8. Supplier Quality Management
- Evaluate supplier quality performance.
- Conduct supplier audits.
- Review supplier corrective actions.
- Develop supplier quality improvement plans.
9. Quality System Compliance
- Ensure compliance with:
- ISO 9001
- IATF 16949 (if automotive)
- Customer-specific requirements
- Support internal and external audits.
10. Reporting & Team Coordination
- Report daily quality performance metrics.
- Track:
- Rejection %
- Rework %
- Customer PPM
- Supplier PPM
- On-time corrective actions
- Coordinate with production, CNC programmers, setters, and maintenance teams.
