Summary:
As a Custom Software Engineer, a typical day involves creating tailored software solutions by designing, coding, and improving various components within systems or applications. The role requires working with contemporary development frameworks and following agile methodologies to ensure the delivery of scalable and efficient software that meets unique business requirements. Collaboration with team members and adapting to evolving project needs are integral parts of the daily workflow, fostering innovation and continuous improvement in software products.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Develop test plans and test cases for cockpit features: media player, navigation, BT/phone connectivity, instrument cluster displays, and HUD applications.
2. Implement automated test scripts using Robot Framework, Appium, Espresso, or UI Automator for AAOS-based cockpit application regression testing.
3. Build and maintain HIL test environments for cockpit ECU validation: display signal injection, CAN/CAN-FD network simulation, and touch input emulation.
4. Execute performance testing: application launch time (cold/warm/hot start), UI animation frame rate (60/120 fps), GPU utilization, and thermal stability.
5. Validate display quality metrics: Colour accuracy (DCI-P3, sRGB), brightness uniformity, viewing angle, contrast ratio, and anti-glare performance.
6. Perform compliance testing: CTS (Compatibility Test Suite) and GTS (Google Test Suite) for AAOS, Google Mobile Services (GMS) certification test cases.
7. Execute Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity test scenarios: A2DP audio streaming, HFP call handling, PBAP contacts sync, and Wi-Fi interoperability.
8. Log defects with detailed reproduction steps in JIRA/ALM maintain requirements traceability matrix in Polarion or Code beamer.
9. Conduct regression testing for each software release across cockpit features, platform changes, and OEM configuration variants.
10. Support on-vehicle cockpit integration testing in prototype and pre-production vehicles analyses field logs and reproduce in-lab
Professional & Technical Skills:
1. Must Have: Experience in automated testing for Android Automotive or Qt/QML test frameworks.
2. Must Have: Knowledge of AAOS platform testing: CTS runner, CTS Verifier, and VTS (Vendor Test Suite) for HAL validation.
3. Must Have: Familiarity with HIL bench testing: d SPACE, Vector CANoe/CANalyzer, or NI hardware for CAN signal injection and emulation.
4. Must Have: Understanding of display testing methodologies: colorimeter (X-Rite, Konica Minolta) calibration and automotive display standards.
5. Must Have: Knowledge of Bluetooth SIG qualification tooling, Wi-Fi Alliance certification basics, and protocol conformance testing.
6. Must Have: Familiarity with ALM/requirements tools: JIRA, Polarion, Code-beamer for defect management and requirements traceability.
7. Good to Have: Experience with functional safety testing for cockpit displays per ISO 26262 ASIL-A/B for cluster and HUD applications.
8. Good to Have: Familiarity with visual regression testing tools for HMI: Percy, Applitools, or custom screenshot comparison frameworks.
9. Good to Have: Knowledge of automotive cybersecurity testing basics for cockpit: penetration testing and fuzz testing of IVI interfaces.
10. Good to Have: Exposure to cloud-based device farm testing: AWS Device Farm, Firebase Test Lab for scalable AAOS app validation.
11. Good to Have: Understanding of OTA update validation: A/B update testing, rollback verification, and post-update regression testing.
