Safety Manager

Reporting To: Project Manager / Site Head
Job Purpose:
To ensure a safe working environment at the labour site by implementing safety policies, conducting inspections, ensuring statutory compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture among all employees and workers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor site safety plans and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety laws, regulations, and company HSE policies.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions and practices.
- Carry out risk assessments and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Organize safety induction programmes for new employees, contractors, and labourers.
- Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety awareness sessions.
- Monitor the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all workers.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports.
- Maintain safety records, registers, permits, and statutory documentation.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including mock drills and evacuation procedures.
- Ensure all work permits are issued and controlled as per safety requirements.
- Liaise with government authorities, clients, and auditors during safety inspections and audits.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports to management.
- Recommend improvements to enhance workplace safety and reduce risks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Engineering or any relevant discipline.
- Diploma/ Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized institute.
- Additional HSE certifications will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- 2 – 5 years of experience in construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, or labour-intensive project sites.
- Experience in managing safety at large labour sites is preferred.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
- Good communication and training skills.
- Leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to conduct incident investigations and prepare reports.
- Proficiency in MS Office and safety documentation.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Zero fatal accidents and reduction in Lost Time Injuries (LTI).
- Timely closure of safety observations and corrective actions.
- 100% safety induction and PPE compliance.
- Timely submission of safety reports and statutory records.
- Successful completion of internal and external safety audits.
Working Conditions:
- The role requires regular presence at the labour site.
- Willingness to work extended hours, shifts, and weekends as per project requirements.
Frequent interaction with labourers, contractors, and project teams.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
