Job Summary
The Emergency Incharge is responsible for the overall management and smooth functioning of the Emergency Department, ensuring prompt, efficient, and quality patient care during medical and surgical emergencies. The role includes staff supervision, coordination with consultants, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and emergency protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Ensure immediate assessment and timely treatment of emergency patients.
- Supervise triage activities and prioritize patients based on severity.
- Coordinate with consultants and other departments for emergency management.
- Monitor critically ill patients until admission, transfer, or discharge.
- Ensure proper documentation of emergency cases and medico-legal cases (MLC).
Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Emergency Department.
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing.
- Ensure availability of emergency medicines, crash carts, and consumables.
- Monitor the functioning of emergency equipment such as defibrillators, ventilators, monitors, suction machines, and oxygen supply.
- Coordinate ambulance services and patient transfers.
Quality & Compliance Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and statutory requirements.
- Implement infection prevention and control measures in the emergency area.
- Monitor patient safety indicators and incident reporting.
- Ensure proper handling and reporting of medico-legal cases.
Staff Management & Training
- Supervise emergency nursing and support staff.
- Conduct induction and regular training on BLS, ACLS, CPR, and disaster management.
- Organize mock drills for fire safety, mass casualty incidents, and code blue situations.
- Evaluate staff performance and recommend improvements.
Coordination Responsibilities
- Coordinate with ICU, OT, Laboratory, Radiology, Blood Bank, Pharmacy, and Admission Department for smooth patient management.
- Maintain effective communication with patients' attendants regarding patient condition and treatment processes.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing / M.Sc. Nursing or MBBS (as per hospital requirements).
- Valid professional registration certificate.
- Certification in BLS and ACLS preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in Emergency/Critical Care, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Skills Required
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent emergency and critical care management skills.
- Effective communication and team coordination skills.
- Knowledge of NABH standards and emergency protocols.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage crisis situations.

Pay: ₹22,086.00 - ₹30,041.73 per month
