Job Summary
The Optometrist – Sales & Optical Services is responsible for conducting eye examinations, prescribing corrective lenses, counseling patients on vision care products, and driving optical sales. The role combines clinical expertise with customer service and retail sales to ensure an excellent patient experience and achievement of business targets.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations and refraction.
- Assess visual acuity and diagnose refractive errors.
- Prescribe spectacles, contact lenses, and vision correction solutions.
- Identify ocular abnormalities and refer patients to ophthalmologists when necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient records and prescriptions.
Sales & Customer Service
- Recommend appropriate frames, lenses, contact lenses, and vision care products based on patient needs.
- Explain lens options, coatings, progressive lenses, blue-light filters, and specialty products.
- Guide customers in selecting eyewear that meets clinical and aesthetic requirements.
- Achieve individual and store sales targets.
- Promote ongoing offers, packages, and premium optical products.
- Build long-term customer relationships to encourage repeat business.
Optical Dispensing
- Verify prescriptions and ensure accurate order processing.
- Assist customers with frame fitting, adjustments, and after-sales service.
- Educate customers on product usage, maintenance, and warranty policies.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve issues professionally.
Inventory & Store Operations
- Monitor stock levels of frames, lenses, and contact lenses.
- Coordinate with vendors and inventory teams for replenishment.
- Maintain product displays and ensure store presentation standards.
- Support inventory audits and stock management activities.
Business Development
- Participate in marketing campaigns and promotional activities.
- Generate referrals and contribute to customer acquisition initiatives.
- Support eye screening camps and corporate vision programs when required.
Compliance & Quality
- Follow clinical and retail operational standards.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and professional ethics.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and customer information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom) or Diploma in Optometry.
- Valid professional registration (where applicable).
Experience
- 1–5 years of experience in optometry and optical retail sales preferred.
- Experience in eyewear dispensing, contact lens fitting, and customer counseling is desirable.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong refraction and vision assessment skills.
- Excellent sales and customer relationship management abilities.
- Knowledge of ophthalmic lenses, frames, and contact lenses.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Target-oriented and commercially aware.
Pay: ₹12,231.75 - ₹31,038.39 per month
