Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Lab Assistant to manage and maintain the technical infrastructure in the university's computer science, IT, or engineering labs. The role involves providing technical support, managing hardware/software, assisting faculty and students, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring the labs operation is smooth and secure. The ideal candidate will have strong technical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Provide prompt and effective technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students using lab facilities. Troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, and network issues.
- Software & Hardware Management: Install, configure, update, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and computer hardware. Ensure the lab systems are running smoothly and are up-to-date.
- Network Maintenance: Administer, monitor, and maintain the labs network infrastructure, servers, and ensure consistent network performance.
- Equipment Upkeep: Ensure all lab equipment is functional, performing routine maintenance, upgrades, and repairs as necessary. Perform diagnostic tests on hardware to identify issues and make necessary improvements.
- Student Assistance: Guide and train students on the proper use of lab equipment and software. Provide one-on-one or group assistance during lab sessions.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation for software applications, hardware setups, and lab procedures to ensure a structured and efficient environment.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network problems promptly to ensure the lab operates at optimal performance.
- Safety & Security: Implement security protocols to safeguard lab equipment and systems from unauthorized use. Follow university safety policies and guidelines for equipment usage.
- Inventory & Record Keeping: Manage lab inventory, track stock of hardware and software resources, and maintain daily logs of work completed.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- Required:
- MSc in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or
- BTech/BE in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or
- BSc in Computer Science or a related discipline.
Technical Skills:
- Programming Languages: Knowledge of programming languages such as C, Java, Python, or similar.
- Software Management: Proficiency in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting software applications (Windows, Linux, etc.).
- Hardware & Networking: Familiarity with computer hardware, network troubleshooting, and operating systems (both Windows and Unix/Linux-based).
- MS Office: Competence in using Microsoft Office suite and other commonly used software applications.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) for effective interaction with faculty, staff, and students.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well in a team, and adapt to a dynamic environment.
- Ability to multitask, remain patient, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
