Job Title: Assistant Language Teacher (ALT)
Location: Japan
Job-type: Full-time, contract renewed every year for a period of 3 years, and in exceptional
cases up to 5 years.
Job Overview:
An Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) supports English education in Japanese schools by
assisting Japanese Teachers in creating an engaging and communicative classroom
environment. ALTs contribute not only as language instructors but also as cultural
ambassadors, helping students develop global awareness and confidence in English
communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Japanese Teachers of English during classroom instruction.
- Support lesson planning and preparation of teaching materials.
- Conduct or support English speaking, pronunciation, and communication activities.
- Participate in school activities, English clubs, cultural events, sports days, and international
- exchange programs.
- Encourage students’ interest in English language and cross-cultural understanding.
- Build positive relationships with students and school staff.
Work Location:
Assignments may be in elementary, junior high, or senior high schools across Japan (public
or private institutions).
Employment Terms:
Contract Period:
Initial contract of 1 year, renewable up to 3 years, and in exceptional cases up to 5 years.
Working Hours:
Approximately 40-45 hours per week (typically Monday–Friday, around 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
Holidays:
Weekends, Japanese national holidays, and paid leave (minimum 10 days annually, subject
to school requirements).
Remuneration/Compensation:
Approximate annual salary: ¥2.3 – ¥3 million. (Equivalent to approximately ₹1,10,000 -
₹1,45,000) per month.
Eligibility Requirements
- Hold an Indian passport.
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- Have strong English communication skills, including clear pronunciation and fluency.
- Be mentally and physically fit for overseas work.
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in Japanese culture and education.
- Be adaptable to living and working in Japan.
Preferred Qualifications (Preference may be given to candidates with):
- Teaching experience in a group/classroom and/or certifications (e.g., TEFL/TESOL/CELTA).
- Background in English or Education.
- Japanese language knowledge (JLPT preferred).
- International travel, study, or cross-cultural experience.
Pay: From ₹100,000.00 per month
