Job Title: STP Operator cum SupervisorPosition Overview
The STP Operator cum Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and compliance of the Sewage Treatment Plant. This is a dual-responsibility role combining hands-on technical operations with team leadership. The ideal candidate will ensure that the plant operates efficiently, meets all environmental and regulatory standards, and coordinates a small team of operators or technicians.
Key Responsibilities & Duties1. Plant Operations & Technical Control
- Monitor and operate all STP equipment, including pumps, blowers, valves, aerators, and filtration systems.
- Conduct regular testing of wastewater samples (pH, Dissolved Oxygen, TDS, TSS, COD/BOD levels) and adjust chemical dosages accordingly.
- Maintain optimal flow rates and ensure the biological and chemical treatment processes are functioning correctly.
- Troubleshoot operational glitches and perform minor mechanical/electrical repairs.
2. Supervisory & Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and schedule shifts for junior operators, helpers, or lab technicians.
- Ensure the team strictly adheres to safety protocols, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Conduct daily tool-box talks and delegate tasks effectively to ensure 24/7 plant coverage.
3. Maintenance & Asset Management
- Implement and oversee the Preventive Maintenance Schedule (PMS) for all machinery to minimize downtime.
- Manage inventory for chemicals (e.g., chlorine, polymers, alum), spare parts, and lab supplies; raise purchase requisitions when stocks are low.
- Coordinate with external vendors or AMCs (Annual Maintenance Contractors) for major repairs or calibrations.
4. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate daily logbooks recording parameters like flow meter readings, energy consumption, chemical usage, and test results.
- Ensure treated water quality complies with local environmental pollution control board standards.
- Prepare weekly/monthly operational reports for management.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: ITI / Diploma / Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental Engineering, or BSc in Chemistry
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of wastewater treatment technologies (e.g., MBBR, SBR, MBR, ASP).
- Soft Skills: Leadership qualities, quick problem-solving abilities, and basic computer skills (MS Excel/Word for reporting).
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Must be willing to work in rotational shifts (including night shifts) and be on-call for emergencies.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments, handle chemicals safely, and lift moderate weights if required during maintenance.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
