Job Description
Clearwater is looking for a Senior Revenue Accounting Analyst to join our Finance team and help manage revenue recognition for our SaaS business. You'll play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant revenue reporting under ASC 606, working closely with our Billing and ERP systems to support monthly close, audits, and cross-functional partnerships with Sales, Legal, and Deal Desk. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical accounting skills who enjoys both the analytical rigor of revenue recognition and the process-improvement side of scaling a finance function.
What you will do:

Apply ASC 606 principles to complex contracts, including multi-element arrangements, variable consideration, and contract modifications

Be a key contributor to the month-end and quarter-end revenue close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and revenue reporting schedules

Manage revenue recognition workflows and ensure accurate integration with NetSuite.

Review new and amended customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue treatment; partner with Deal Desk and Legal on non-standard terms

Maintain and reconcile deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, and contract asset/liability balances

Prepare monthly reporting on revenue trends and key metrics (e.g., ARR, BNB, ACV, deferred revenue roll forward)

Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to increase efficiency and scalability as the business grows

Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales Operations, Deal Desk, FP&A, and Legal to ensure contract terms are properly reflected in billing and revenue systems
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field

8+ Years of overall Accounting Experience, with a minimum 4 years of progressive revenue accounting experience, ideally in a SaaS or subscription-based business.

Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 and its practical application to SaaS contracts and usage-based models.

Hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP system.

Advanced Excel user (Vlookup, pivot tables, etc.).

Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities during close cycles

Strong communication skills and experience partnering with non-finance stakeholders (Sales, Legal, Deal Desk)

Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently and as a team member with excellent interpersonal skills

Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging and changing environment
Bonus points:
- SaaS (software-as-a-service) related experience

Certified Public Accountant or equivalent

Experience with NetSuite ARM (Advanced Revenue Module), or other similar systems. (Zuora RevPro)

Big 4 Audit firm experience

Experience using Claude and other AI tools.
