Job Description – Scrub Nurse
A Scrub Nurse is a trained healthcare professional who assists surgeons and surgical teams during operations by preparing and maintaining a sterile environment in the operating theatre. The Scrub Nurse ensures that all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are properly arranged and available during procedures to support safe and efficient patient care.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare the operation theatre before surgery.
- Sterilize and arrange surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by handing over instruments and supplies.
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection control practices.
- Monitor and ensure the sterility of the operating field throughout the procedure.
- Count surgical instruments, needles, and sponges before and after surgery.
- Assist in patient preparation and positioning before surgery.
- Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and OT staff for smooth surgical procedures.
- Handle surgical specimens safely and accurately.
- Maintain proper documentation and OT records.
- Ensure proper disposal of biomedical waste according to hospital protocols.
- Support post-operative cleaning and preparation of the operation theatre for the next procedure.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and sterile techniques.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations.
- Attention to detail and quick decision-making ability.
- Knowledge of infection control and patient safety standards.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
