Job Summary:
IBH Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Engineer specializing in Commercial Vehicle Body Design. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and preparing detailed engineering drawings for Container Bodies, Fuel Tankers, Water Tankers, Tippers, Trailers, and other commercial vehicle applications. The candidate must possess strong technical expertise in vehicle body structure design, fabrication drawings, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.
The position requires hands-on experience in creating production-ready drawings, design calculations, material selection, structural analysis, and coordination with manufacturing teams to ensure high-quality vehicle body fabrication.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings for commercial vehicle bodies.
- Design and develop Container Bodies, Fuel Tankers, Water Tankers, Tank Trucks, Tippers, Flatbed Bodies, and Special Purpose Vehicles.
- Create assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, GA (General Arrangement) drawings, and manufacturing drawings.
- Develop BOM (Bill of Materials) and material specifications.
- Perform design calculations related to load distribution, strength, stability, and safety.
- Ensure compliance with automotive and transport industry regulations.
- Review and improve existing vehicle body designs for better performance and cost efficiency.
- Conduct design modifications based on customer requirements and operational needs.
Product Development
- Participate in new product development and customization projects.
- Coordinate with production, procurement, quality, and sales teams for project execution.
- Support prototype development and testing activities.
- Evaluate new materials and technologies for vehicle body construction.
Technical Documentation
- Prepare engineering documentation and technical reports.
- Maintain drawing revisions and engineering records.
- Develop manufacturing process documentation.
- Ensure proper documentation control as per company standards.
Manufacturing Support
- Provide technical guidance to fabrication and production teams.
- Resolve design-related manufacturing issues.
- Conduct site inspections and production reviews when required.
- Support quality assurance teams in technical evaluations.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable automotive standards and safety regulations.
- Follow industry best practices for tanker design, structural integrity, and vehicle safety.
- Maintain adherence to environmental and transportation guidelines.
Required Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Commercial Vehicle Body Design.
- Experience in Fuel Tanker and Water Tanker Design.
- Knowledge of Container Body Fabrication.
- Expertise in Structural Design and Sheet Metal Design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, Inventor, or similar CAD software.
- Understanding of welding, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Ability to prepare detailed fabrication drawings and production documents.
- Familiarity with BOM preparation and engineering change management.
