Job Description (JD) – Pipeline Fitter
Position: Pipeline Fitter
Location: Chennai (Project Sites)

Job Summary:
The Pipeline Fitter is responsible for installation, alignment, jointing, testing, and maintenance of water supply pipelines under Chennai Metro Water projects. The role requires hands-on experience in handling various pipe materials and ensuring quality workmanship as per project specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute installation of pipelines including DI, HDPE, MS, PVC, and CI pipes as per drawings and site instructions.
- Perform pipe cutting, threading, bending, grooving, and alignment activities.
- Carry out jointing works such as flange jointing, rubber gasket jointing, welding (if applicable), and electrofusion for HDPE pipes.
- Ensure proper bedding, leveling, and alignment of pipelines during laying.
- Assist in hydrostatic pressure testing, leakage testing, and commissioning of pipelines.
- Coordinate with machine operators (excavator, crane) during trenching and pipe laying.
- Ensure all works are carried out as per CMWSSB standards, drawings, and specifications.
- Identify and rectify defects or leakages in pipeline systems.
- Follow site safety practices and use PPE at all times.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good condition.
- Support supervisors in achieving daily and weekly targets.
Qualification & Experience:
- Qualification: ITI / Diploma (Mechanical / Fitter) or relevant trade certification.
- Experience: Fresher, Interested in pipeline works, preferably in water supply / sewer projects.
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor site work in varying weather conditions.
- May require working in trenches and confined spaces.
- Flexible working hours depending on project requirements.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to travel across project locations within Chennai.
- Immediate joiners preferred.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹29,327.95 per month
