The successful candidate is expected to contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and operations. He or she must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven, deliver high quality results in a fast paced environment, and really enjoy working closely with peers in a group of very talented engineers.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable software solutions that calculate taxes accurately and efficiently across Amazon's global operations, handling millions of service requests per minute
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions that meet tax compliance standards worldwide
- Develop, test, and deploy high-quality distributed system software using software engineering best practices and modern development methodologies
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design reviews, code reviews, documentation, testing, and operational support of production systems
- Contribute to system reliability and performance by monitoring production metrics, identifying optimization opportunities, and implementing improvements to ensure our services meet demanding scale and accuracy requirements
