Job Summary
The Assistant Accountant (Internship) will provide key operational support to the finance department in managing the day-to-day accounting functions of the Eye Hospital and Charitable Trust. This role is ideal for an early-career professional with 1 to 2 years of experience who wants to deepen their hands-on expertise in healthcare and non-profit accounting. Working directly under the supervision of the Senior Accountant, you will handle data entry, book reconciliations, voucher processing, and documentation while ensuring compliance with standard accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Support and Reporting:
- Assist the Senior Accountant in maintaining accurate, up-to-date financial records, balance sheets, and profit & loss statements.
- Help compile data and prepare drafts for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and donors.
- Track expenditures against departmental budgets and flag discrepancies to the Senior Accountant.
Accounting Operations:
- Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, including verifying invoices, processing vendor bills, and issuing receipts.
- Handle daily bank reconciliations and track hospital cash flows under supervision.
- Assist in compiling monthly payroll data, employee attendance sheets, and expense reimbursements.
- Record and track charitable donations, grants, and patient hospital billing accurately to ensure financial transparency.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Maintain a rigorous internal filing system by organizing, checking, and scanning financial documents, vouchers, and bills.
- Assist in preparing audit schedules and gathering necessary documentation for internal and external audits.
- Support the Senior Accountant with routine statutory compliances, including gathering data for TDS, GST, and trust-specific financial regulations.
Team Collaboration:
- Coordinate directly with hospital operations, front desk, and pharmacy staff to collect billing logs and clear up documentation errors.
- Handle ad-hoc financial administrative tasks as assigned by the Senior Accountant.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce (B.Com), Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role. Experience in a hospital, healthcare facility, or non-profit/charitable trust is highly preferred.
- Skills:
- Solid understanding of core accounting principles (journal entries, general ledger, and double-entry bookkeeping).
- Practical proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally Prime, QuickBooks, or similar ERP software) and MS Excel (functions, filters, formatting).
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy with financial figures.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple daily transactions.
- Good communication skills to coordinate effectively across hospital departments.
Work Environment
This is an on-site position located within a hospital environment. The candidate will work closely with the Senior Accountant in a fast-paced setting, requiring daily interaction with both hospital administration and clinical staff.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
