A CNC Setter cum Operator is responsible for setting up CNC machines, loading programs, operating the machines to produce precision parts, and ensuring quality standards are met. The role combines machine setup expertise with hands-on operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up CNC machines (turning, milling, VMC, etc.) as per job requirements
- Load and verify CNC programs (G-code/M-code)
- Select and install tools, fixtures, and workpieces
- Perform trial runs and make necessary adjustments
- Operate machines to produce components within tolerance limits
- Monitor machining processes and detect issues
- Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments (vernier caliper, micrometer, gauges)
- Maintain machine cleanliness and basic maintenance
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards
- Minimize scrap and improve productivity
