Role Overview
We are looking for a driven and commercially sharp Business Development Manager to spearhead new business opportunities within WFC’s Fintech & Wealthtech vertical owning the full journey from discovery and evaluation through to transition and execution. The primary objective of this role is to drive strategic diversification beyond startup investments, by identifying and assessing high-potential opportunities across both established and newly initiated Fintech and Wealthtech business models. The ideal candidate will bring structured thinking and strong initiative, with the ability to study emerging business models, size opportunities, and build the groundwork for WFC to enter or build in new spaces. This role demands active, on-ground engagement with a broad stakeholder ecosystem including founders, HNIs, family offices, wealth managers, and institutional partners and will involve travel as needed to build and deepen these relationships across key markets.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Revenue
▸ Identify and spearhead new business opportunities across the Fintech and Wealthtech landscape, leading each initiative from initial discovery through to transition and execution
▸ Drive diversification beyond startup investments by identifying and evaluating both established and newly initiated Fintech and Wealthtech business models
▸ Study, assess, and map the competitive and collaborative landscape of existing and emerging Fintech and Wealthtech business models to surface actionable diversification opportunities
▸ Engage with founders, HNIs, family offices, wealth managers, and institutional partners through active travel and outreach to uncover and qualify new business opportunities
▸ Build and present compelling business cases, opportunity decks, and transition plans to leadership for new initiatives across India and global markets
▸ Track and report on opportunity pipeline health, business model evaluations, and progress on diversification milestones on a regular basis
New Business Opportunity Development
▸ Identify white-space opportunities in underserved fintech and wealthtech market segments across pan-India and globally
▸ Lead end-to-end opportunity assessment from market sizing and feasibility analysis to pilot launch and scale-up
▸ Develop new revenue streams by introducing innovative financial products, co-branded solutions, and platform integrations
▸ Forge first-of-its-kind partnerships with fintech startups, digital lenders, AI-advisory platforms, and investment tech firms
▸ Prepare detailed new business proposals, opportunity decks, and partnership term sheets for senior stakeholder review
▸ Track and report on new opportunity pipeline health, conversion rates, and revenue contribution on a regular basis
Partnerships & Ecosystem Development
▸ Collaborate with wealth management firms, family offices, and HNI networks (Globally) for product distribution
▸ Represent WFC at industry events, investor forums, and fintech conferences across India and outside India
▸ Nurture long-term relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers in the financial ecosystem
Market Strategy & Expansion
▸ Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis across India and international markets to identify growth opportunities
▸ Develop go-to-market strategies for new products and services in the Wealthtech space tailored for both domestic and global audiences
▸ Analyze market trends, client needs, and competitor landscape across geographies to inform product positioning and pricing
▸ Drive entry into new international markets including the Middle East, Southeast Asia, the UK, and other high-potential regions
▸ Build region-specific business development plans aligned with WFC's global expansion roadmap
Client Acquisition & Retention
▸ Drive customer acquisition for WFC's fintech products investment platforms, advisory tools, and wealth solutions across India and overseas
▸ Engage NRI communities, global HNIs, diaspora investors, and institutional clients in international markets
▸ Manage client onboarding, relationship management, and upselling / cross-selling opportunities for both domestic and global clients
▸ Build a robust referral network with existing clients, channel partners, and ecosystem stakeholders in India and internationally
Cross-functional Collaboration
▸ Work closely with product, marketing, and technology teams to align BD efforts with product roadmap
▸ Provide market feedback to influence product development and feature prioritization
▸ Prepare business proposals, presentations, and pitch decks for potential partners and investors
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Background
▸ Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field; Master’s degree is an advantage
▸ MBA from a reputed institution or CA (Chartered Accountant) preferred; CFA / CFP / NISM certifications are an added advantage
Experience
▸ 2 – 5 years of experience in Business Development, Strategy, or Investment roles in Fintech, Wealthtech, BFSI, or Financial Services; fresher MBAs or CAs with strong commercial acumen may also apply
▸ Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, develop business cases, and drive initiatives from concept to execution
▸ Experience in strategic partnerships, opportunity assessment, or new market entry is preferred; exposure to B2B or enterprise contexts is an advantage
▸ Familiarity with wealth management, investment products, digital lending, or broader financial services ecosystem is highly preferred
▸ Willingness and ability to travel as required for stakeholder engagement with founders, HNIs, family offices, wealth managers, and institutional partners
Skills & Competencies
▸ Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills effective across diverse cultural and international business contexts
▸ Strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
▸ Ability to manage multi-geography pipelines and work across time zones with international stakeholders
▸ Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment with a high degree of ownership
▸ Fluency in English and Hindi preferred; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage for global roles

▸ Speed and effectiveness of transitioning approved opportunities from discovery to active execution
▸ Regularity and quality of pipeline reporting and strategic updates to leadership
