Qualification: Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Fashion Designing, Apparel Merchandising, Textile Technology, or a related field.
Job Summary
The Fashion Merchant is responsible for coordinating with buyers, internal departments, and suppliers to ensure timely execution of garment orders from development to shipment. The role involves product costing, order planning, sourcing, sample coordination, production follow-up, and maintaining strong customer relationships while ensuring quality, delivery, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with domestic and international buyers regarding product development and order execution.
- Understand buyer requirements, prepare product specifications, and communicate them to internal teams.
- Coordinate sample development, approvals, and timely submission.
- Prepare product costing and negotiate with buyers and vendors.
- Source fabrics, trims, accessories, and packaging materials as per buyer requirements.
- Monitor the complete order lifecycle from order confirmation to final shipment.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Quality, Fabric, Sampling, and Logistics teams for smooth order execution.
- Track Time & Action (T&A) calendars and ensure adherence to delivery schedules.
- Follow up on lab dips, fabric approvals, fit approvals, PP samples, and bulk production approvals.
- Resolve production or quality issues by coordinating with cross-functional teams.
- Prepare and maintain merchandising reports, order status, shipment schedules, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with buyer standards, company policies, and quality requirements.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with buyers and vendors.
