1. Role Summary
The Head of Department – CSE will provide academic leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for the Computer Science department. The role involves driving excellence in teaching, research, curriculum development, faculty mentoring, industry collaboration, and accreditation processes. The HOD will ensure that the department maintains high academic standards and fosters innovation aligned with emerging technologies.
2. Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership
- Lead curriculum planning, revision, and implementation aligned with NEP, AICTE norms, and industry trends.
- Ensure high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment practices across all programs.
- Promote research culture, publications, patents, and funded projects within the department.
Department Administration
- Oversee faculty workload, timetables, academic calendars, and departmental operations.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings, reviews, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies (AICTE, VTU, NAAC, NBA).
Faculty Development & Mentoring
- Guide faculty in pedagogy, research, and professional development.
- Facilitate FDPs, workshops, and continuous learning initiatives.
- Support faculty in achieving higher qualifications, certifications, and research outputs.
Student Development
- Ensure effective academic advising, mentoring, and student support systems.
- Promote student participation in hackathons, coding competitions, internships, and research.
- Strengthen placement readiness through technical training and industry exposure.
Industry & Research Collaboration
- Build partnerships with IT companies, research labs, and innovation hubs.
- Drive MoUs, internships, guest lectures, and collaborative projects.
- Encourage entrepreneurship, incubation, and startup culture within the department.
Quality Assurance & Accreditation
- Lead documentation and processes for NAAC/NBA accreditation.
- Implement continuous improvement frameworks for academic excellence.
- Monitor academic KPIs, student outcomes, and departmental performance metrics.
3. Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong academic and research credentials with a consistent publication record.
- Proven leadership experience in academic administration.
- Expertise in emerging technologies (AI/ML, Data Science, Cloud, Cybersecurity, IoT, etc.).
- Excellent communication, team management, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to build industry linkages and drive innovation.
4. Candidate Profile
- PhD in CSE with 10+ years of teaching, research, and administrative experience.
- Experience as HOD, Professor, Associate Professor, or equivalent leadership role.
- Strong academic background from IIT/NIT/IIIT/IISc or other reputed institutions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage academic operations, and drive departmental growth.
- Immediate joiners will be given preference.
