Secondary Design Engineer (Substation Protection & Control)
We are seeking an experienced Secondary Design Engineer to join our Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in the design and engineering of secondary systems for HV/EHV substations, including protection and control schemes, detailed engineering drawings, power system studies, and protection setting calculations. The candidate should be capable of independently executing engineering projects while ensuring compliance with applicable utility and international standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review Protection & Control Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, Interconnection Diagrams, and Terminal Plans.
- Develop Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Cable Schedules, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Design and engineer AC/DC auxiliary systems, control panels, relay panels, marshalling kiosks, and bay control systems.
- Perform secondary engineering for AIS/GIS substations, including detailed design documentation.
- Conduct power system studies, including fault level analysis, load flow studies, and relay coordination studies.
- Prepare protection relay setting calculations and setting files for numerical relays.
- Coordinate with primary design, civil, commissioning, and project execution teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Review customer specifications, technical documents, and engineering standards.
- Support FAT, SAT, commissioning activities, and technical issue resolution.
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with IEC, IEEE, IS, utility, and customer standards.
- Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and project meetings.
- Prepare technical documentation and maintain engineering quality throughout project execution.
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of substation Protection & Control engineering.Hands-on experience in preparing:
- Protection & Control Schematics with ABB/Hitachi/Siemens/GE/SEL relays.
- Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
- General Arrangement (GA) Drawings
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Cable Schedules
- Interconnection & Wiring Diagrams
- Experience in power system studies and protection coordination.
- Expertise in relay setting calculations for numerical protection relays.
- Good understanding of AIS/GIS substations from 11 kV to 400kV voltage levels.
- Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, IS, and utility standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, E3, Elcad
- Familiarity with power system analysis software such as ETAP, CYME, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech.) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE).
Experience:
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in Secondary Design Engineering for substations or power system projects.
- Experience in protection and control design, power system studies, and relay setting calculations is essential.
Preferred
- Experience with utility, EPC, or substation engineering projects.
- Exposure to IEC 61850-based substation automation systems.
- Experience in testing, commissioning support, and technical coordination will be an added advantage.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
