Position: Mechanical Supervisor
Job Summary
The Mechanical Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery used in mining, mineral processing plants, and production facilities. The role ensures maximum equipment availability, minimizes downtime, and maintains a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of plant and mining equipment.
- Monitor the performance of crushers, mills, conveyors, pumps, compressors, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical equipment.
- Plan and allocate daily maintenance activities to technicians and fitters.
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely maintenance with minimal operational disruption.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective corrective actions.
- Ensure availability of critical spare parts and coordinate with the Purchase and Store departments.
- Maintain maintenance logs, equipment history, and service records.
- Monitor contractor activities and ensure work is completed as per quality and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, SOPs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Support equipment installation, commissioning, and improvement projects.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
- 3–7 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within the mining, mineral processing, cement, ceramics, manufacturing, or heavy industrial sector.
- Experience with mineral processing equipment will be preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and power transmission systems.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and maintenance manuals.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Good leadership, planning, and team management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and maintenance record management.
