The Project Manager – Mechanical is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering all mechanical works within MEP projects, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual, quality, and safety requirements. The role manages HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, fuel gas, and other mechanical systems while coordinating with electrical, ELV, civil, and architectural teams to achieve successful project delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Execution
- Lead and manage mechanical MEP projects from project award through commissioning and final handover.
- Develop project execution plans, work schedules, manpower plans, procurement schedules, and project budgets.
- Coordinate mechanical works with electrical, civil, architectural, and other disciplines.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to meet project milestones.
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of mechanical materials and equipment.
Technical Management
- Review contract documents, specifications, BOQs, IFC drawings, shop drawings, and technical submittals.
- Supervise installation of HVAC systems, chilled water piping, ventilation, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, LPG/fuel gas systems, and related mechanical services.
- Ensure all installations comply with project specifications, local authority requirements, and international standards.
- Oversee testing, balancing, commissioning, and system handover.
- Resolve technical and construction-related issues with consultants, clients, and design teams.
Commercial & Cost Control
- Monitor project budgets, productivity, and resource utilization.
- Review subcontractor progress, certifications, and payment applications.
- Manage project variations, claims, and change orders.
- Support preparation of monthly progress reports, invoices, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
Quality & HSE
- Ensure compliance with the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections, quality audits, and safety reviews.
- Ensure all inspections, testing, and documentation are completed in accordance with project requirements.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and project stakeholders regarding mechanical works.
- Attend project meetings and provide progress updates.
- Coordinate authority inspections, approvals, and statutory compliance.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure successful project delivery.
Team Leadership
- Lead and manage Project Engineers, Site Engineers, Supervisors, Foremen, and subcontractors.
- Allocate manpower and equipment efficiently to maximize productivity.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and performance management to project teams.
- Foster a collaborative, safety-focused, and high-performance work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- PMP certification is preferred.
- Professional engineering registration is an advantage.
Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in Mechanical MEP contracting.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Project Manager role.
- Proven experience delivering commercial, residential, healthcare, hospitality, industrial, or infrastructure MEP projects.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water systems, ventilation, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, fuel gas/LPG systems, and associated mechanical services.
- Experience in testing, adjusting, balancing (TAB), commissioning, and project handover.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, MS Project, and/or Primavera P6.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, IPC, local building codes, and authority regulations.
