Dance:
- Instruction: Teach various dance styles, techniques, and terminology to different age groups and skill levels.
- Curriculum: Develop lesson plans, create choreography for performances, and structure warm-ups/cool-downs.
- Student Development: Motivate students, provide constructive feedback, assess performance, and build confidence and discipline.
- Studio Management: Maintain a clean space, manage class flow, and adhere to safety.
Music:
- Curriculum & Instruction: Design and implement lesson plans for general music, specific instruments (Keyboard, Drums, piano, guitar, etc.)
- Performance & Ensembles: Conduct rehearsals and direct school concerts, choirs, orchestras, or bands.
- Assessment: Evaluate student progress, provide feedback, assign homework, and prepare students for music exams, auditions, and competitions.
- Student Development: Inspire creativity, build relationships, mentor students, and adapt teaching to diverse needs.
- Collaboration: Work with other teachers, administrators, and parents to enhance student musical experiences.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain records, manage materials, and coordinate extracurricular music activities.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in multiple instruments and/or voice.
- Strong understanding of music theory and history.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
- Often requires a degree in Music Education and relevant teaching license.
Vocal:
- Curriculum & Instruction: Design and teach lesson plans covering vocal technique (breathing, tone, diction), music theory, sight-reading, and different musical styles.
- Performance & Rehearsal: Organize and lead rehearsals, prepare students for concerts, recitals, auditions, and competitions.
- Student Assessment: Evaluate student progress, provide constructive feedback, and identify individual needs, noting areas for improvement.
- Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive, productive learning environment for individuals and groups.
- Collaboration: Work with other teachers, staff, and administrators; communicate regularly with parents about student development.
