Cold Storage Manager
Department: Warehouse & Cold Storage Operations
Location: Palanpur and Prantij (Mehsana - Gujarat)
Reports To: Plant Head / Supply Chain Manager / Operations Head
Job Summary:
The Cold Storage Manager is responsible for the overall management of finished goods cold storage operations, ensuring proper storage conditions, inventory accuracy, product quality, and timely dispatches. The role involves maintaining temperature-controlled storage facilities, managing warehouse personnel, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, and optimizing storage utilization while minimizing product losses.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cold Storage Operations Management
- Manage day-to-day operations of the cold storage facility.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of finished products as per defined temperature requirements.
- Monitor storage capacity utilization and optimize warehouse space.
- Ensure smooth receipt, storage, and dispatch of finished goods.
2. Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records and stock reconciliation.
- Implement FIFO (First In First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry First Out) systems.
- Conduct regular physical stock verification and cycle counting.
- Monitor stock movement and minimize inventory discrepancies.
3. Temperature & Product Quality Control
- Monitor cold room temperatures and humidity levels continuously.
- Ensure proper functioning of refrigeration systems.
- Prevent product deterioration, spoilage, and quality deviations.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance for product inspections and storage compliance.
4. Dispatch & Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate dispatch planning with Sales, Logistics, and Production teams.
- Ensure timely loading and dispatch of finished goods.
- Verify dispatch documentation and inventory records.
- Monitor vehicle temperature compliance during loading and transportation.
5. Team Management
- Supervise warehouse supervisors, operators, forklift drivers, and contract labor.
- Prepare manpower deployment plans and shift schedules.
- Train team members on storage practices, food safety, and warehouse procedures.
- Monitor employee productivity and performance.
6. Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GHP, HACCP, FSSAI, BRCGS, ISO 22000, and company standards.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits and inspections.
- Ensure traceability and product identification systems are maintained.
7. Housekeeping & Hygiene Management
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of cold storage areas.
- Implement and maintain 5S practices.
- Coordinate pest control activities and maintain records.
- Ensure proper waste management and disposal practices.
8. Equipment & Facility Management
- Monitor performance of refrigeration systems, dock equipment, pallet racks, and material handling equipment.
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure uninterrupted cold chain operations.
9. Safety & Security Management
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Monitor warehouse security and access controls.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
10. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and dispatch reports.
- Maintain temperature logs and cold storage records.
- Generate KPI reports related to storage efficiency, stock accuracy, and product losses.
- Support internal and external audits.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of cold chain management and warehouse operations.
- Inventory management and stock control expertise.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and cold storage requirements.
- Leadership and manpower management skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Good analytical and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/WMS systems.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Warehouse Management, Food Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
- Diploma or Certification in Cold Chain Management will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Cold Storage, Warehouse Operations, Finished Goods Management, or Cold Chain Logistics.
- Experience in Food Manufacturing, Frozen Foods, FMCG, Dairy, Potato Products, or Processed Food Industry preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Experience managing temperature-controlled warehouses.
- Exposure to ERP/WMS systems.
- Experience handling customer and regulatory audits.
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems and cold chain best practices.

Working Conditions & Benefits
- This is a plant-based role requiring the candidate to manage and supervise cold storage operations on-site.
- Duty Hours: 12-hour shift schedule as per operational requirements.
- The candidate should be willing to work in rotational shifts, weekends, and holidays whenever required to ensure uninterrupted cold storage operations.
- Accommodation: Company-provided accommodation will be available at the cold storage location.
- Work Locations: Prantij, Gujarat and Palanpur, Gujarat. The selected candidate may be assigned to either location based on business requirements.
- The role requires regular monitoring of cold storage facilities, inventory management, dispatch operations, and coordination with plant, logistics, and quality teams.
Additional Requirement
- Candidate must be willing to relocate and stay at the company-provided accommodation near the assigned cold storage facility.
- Preference will be given to candidates having experience in cold chain operations, frozen food storage, FMCG warehouses, or food manufacturing industries.
Experience Required
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Cold Storage Management, Warehouse Operations, Cold Chain Logistics, or Finished Goods Storage Management.
