The Role
Serve as the face and voice of our school — the first meaningful interaction most families have with us, and their ongoing point of connection throughout their journey with the school. You’ll manage the full admissions cycle while building genuine relationships with parents who are choosing progressive, Waldorf-inspired education, often for the first time.
This is not a back-office administrative role. You’ll shape how Madurai’s families understand and experience our progressive approach — bridging local cultural expectations with a philosophy that may be new to many of them.
Compensation
Excellent salary commensurate with experience and communication ability.
You Bring
Communication Excellence (Essential):
- Outstanding spoken and written English — you’ll represent the school in every parent interaction
- Fluency in Tamil strongly preferred, given the local parent base
- Ability to explain progressive/Waldorf philosophy in relatable, non-jargon terms to families with varied educational backgrounds
- Comfortable presenting to groups (school tours, information sessions, parent orientations)
Cultural & Relational Intelligence:
- Deep understanding of Madurai’s social and cultural context — what matters to local families, how decisions get made, what builds trust
- Equal comfort engaging families seeking a progressive approach and those more familiar with traditional schooling
- Warm, confident presence that puts anxious or skeptical parents at ease
- Discretion in handling sensitive family situations and conversations
Technology & Systems:
- Proficient with CRM/admissions software, Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, and digital communication tools
- Comfortable managing an admissions pipeline, tracking inquiries, and using data to report on enrollment trends
- Ability to manage school social media/website inquiries or coordinate with marketing as needed
Professional Presence:
- Confident, articulate, and poised — someone who represents the school well with prospective parents, board members, and visitors
- Smart, quick-thinking, and able to handle unexpected questions or concerns on the spot
- Well-organized with strong follow-through — admissions timelines don’t have room for dropped threads
Experience:
- 3-5+ years in admissions, front-office leadership, customer/client relations, or a communications-heavy role (school experience preferred but not required)
- Track record of managing a pipeline or process from first contact through to conversion/decision
- Experience in education, hospitality, or client-facing service industries all considered
Key Responsibilities
Admissions:
- Manage the complete admissions journey — inquiry, campus visit, application, assessment coordination, offer, and enrollment
- Conduct compelling school tours and information sessions that communicate the school’s philosophy authentically
- Maintain and report on admissions pipeline, conversion rates, and enrollment targets
- Coordinate with academic team on assessments/interviews as part of the admissions process
Parent Communication & Relations:
- Serve as primary point of contact for prospective and current parents
- Communicate school updates, events, and policies clearly and warmly
- Handle parent questions, concerns, and feedback with professionalism and empathy
- Build genuine relationships that translate into strong word-of-mouth referrals in the community
School Interface:
- Represent the school at community events, education fairs, and outreach activities
- Support marketing efforts — website content, social media, print materials — ensuring messaging reflects the school authentically
- Liaise between parents and academic/leadership teams on matters requiring escalation
- Help shape how the wider Madurai community perceives and understands the school
What Sets You Apart
- You can sit with a traditional ICSE-minded grandparent and a progressive-education-curious young parent in the same week and make both feel completely understood
- You see admissions as relationship-building, not transaction-processing
- You’re the person who makes people feel at ease within the first two minutes of meeting you
- You genuinely believe in what progressive, holistic education offers Madurai’s children — and can communicate why
