Job Summary
The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, BOQs, and tender documents for construction and engineering projects. The role involves analyzing drawings, specifications, and project scope to determine material, labour, and overall project costs to support bidding and project planning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quantity Take-off & Cost Estimation
Study tender drawings, specifications, and BOQ.
Prepare quantity take-off from drawings.
Estimate material, labour, equipment, and subcontract costs.
Prepare detailed cost sheets and rate analysis.
Prepare preliminary and final project cost estimates.
2. Tendering & Bidding
Review tender documents and scope of work.
Prepare techno-commercial proposals.
Obtain quotations from vendors and subcontractors.
Compare vendor quotations and prepare comparative statements.
Assist management in finalizing bid pricing.
Prepare tender submissions within deadlines.
3. Coordination
Coordinate with design, project, purchase, and planning teams.
Clarify technical queries with clients/consultants.
Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits if required.
Support project team during execution with cost inputs.
4. Cost Control & Value Engineering
Suggest cost-saving methods and alternatives.
Conduct rate analysis for extra items and variations.
Monitor market rates of materials and labour.
Maintain estimation database for future reference.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain tender and estimation records.
Prepare estimation reports and summaries.
Maintain BOQ and drawing revisions.
Support billing and planning teams when required.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials.
Ability to read drawings (civil, mechanical, electrical as applicable).
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Good negotiation and vendor management skills.
Time management and deadline handling.
Software Knowledge
MS Excel (Advanced)
AutoCAD (preferred)
Estimation software (if used in company)
MS Project / Primavera (basic knowledge preferred)
Qualification
Diploma / BE in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (as applicable)
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Mumbai, Maharashtra (Mumbai)
