Primary Maths Teacher – Job Description
A Primary Maths Teacher teaches foundational mathematics to primary school students, helping them understand numbers, basic operations, and problem-solving skills. The teacher creates a positive and engaging classroom environment that supports students’ academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging math lessons according to the school curriculum.
- Teach fundamental topics such as:
- Numbers and number sense
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Fractions and decimals
- Basic geometry and measurements
- Word problems and logical thinking
- Use interactive teaching methods like games, activities, and visual aids to help students understand concepts.
- Assess students’ progress through tests, assignments, and class activities.
- Provide individual support to students who need extra help.
- Maintain student records and progress reports.
- Communicate with parents and school staff about student development.
- Create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Participate in school meetings, training, and extracurricular activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or Mathematics (B.Ed preferred).
- Knowledge of primary school mathematics curriculum.
- Good communication and classroom management skills.
