We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Cutting Master to lead our cutting department and ensure our designs are brought to life with precision.
Job Summary
As a Cutting Master, you will be responsible for the end-to-end pattern drafting, marking, and cutting process. You will work closely with our designers and stitching team to translate design concepts into beautifully fitted garments. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in handling diverse fabrics, master pattern making, and grading across all size ranges—especially plus sizes.
Key Responsibilities:
Pattern Making & Drafting: Create accurate master patterns for a variety of garments, including unique gowns, designer kurtis, custom family matching sets, and specialized wear.
Fabric Layout & Marking: Estimate fabric requirements accurately to minimize wastage while ensuring design elements (like prints, borders, or hand-painted details) align perfectly.
Precision Cutting: Hand-cut sample pieces and bulk layups of premium fabrics (such as cotton, silks, georgettes, and heavy bridal wear materials) using manual scissors or cutting machines.
Size Grading: Efficiently grade patterns across a wide size spectrum (XS to 5XL+), ensuring that the fit remains consistent and flattering in plus sizes.
Team Collaboration: Communicate cutting specifications and construction details clearly to the stitching tailors to ensure seamless assembly.
Quality Control: Inspect finished cuts for defects or errors before handing them over to the production team.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Cutting Master in a boutique, designer studio, or garment manufacturing unit.
Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of pattern making, garment construction, and size-grading techniques. Experience with ladies' ethnic wear, western gowns, and fusion wear is highly preferred.
Fabric Knowledge: Strong understanding of different fabric behaviors, shrinkage, and drape.
Attention to Detail: Precision in measurements and a strong eye for clean lines and matching patterns.
Language: Preferable in Tamil, Basic English or Hindi.
