A Two-Wheeler Technician inspects, services, and repairs motorcycles and scooters. They diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform routine maintenance (like oil changes and brake repairs), and ensure vehicles run safely. This highly hands-on role combines technical engine expertise with basic customer service.
Core Responsibilities
- Diagnosis & Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic tools and manuals to pinpoint engine, electrical, and fuel system problems.
- Routine Maintenance: Perform scheduled servicing, oil changes, tune-ups, and wheel alignments.
- Repairs & Replacements: Disassemble and reassemble parts. Relines brakes, fixes clutches, adjusts control cables, and replaces faulty components.
- Quality Testing: Test-ride or test-run the vehicle post-service to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Documentation: Keep detailed service records, job cards, and repair estimates for clients.
- Workshop Safety: Adhere to workshop safety norms, use protective gear, and keep the workspace clean.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of internal combustion engines, anti-lock braking systems (ABS), and electronic fuel injection (EFI). For electric vehicles (EVs), knowledge of battery diagnostics and telematics is required.
- Tool Proficiency: Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Communication: Capacity to explain technical issues clearly to customers and provide repair estimates.
- Qualifications: ITI or Diploma in Automobile Engineering is typically preferred, though experienced hands-on candidates are often accepted.
