Transport Manager – Logistics Operations
Location: Chennai
Experience: 10–12 years (Minimum 5 years in a managerial role)
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager to lead transport operations, fleet management, driver supervision, compliance, and cost optimization. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience managing a company's own fleet and handling heavy cargo vehicles to ensure safe, efficient, and timely transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage vehicle schedules, routes, and dispatch operations.
- Oversee the company's own fleet, ensuring maximum vehicle utilization and operational efficiency.
- Manage fleet maintenance, servicing, statutory compliance, and vehicle safety.
- Supervise drivers, prepare duty rosters, and monitor performance.
- Ensure compliance with transport laws, permits, insurance, and safety regulations.
- Monitor fuel consumption, maintenance expenses, and transportation costs.
- Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, and customer teams to ensure timely deliveries.
- Maintain transport records, fleet reports, and MIS
Requirements
- 10–12 years of experience in transport/logistics operations.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a managerial role.
- Proven experience in managing a company's own fleet of commercial vehicles.
- Experience handling heavy cargo/commercial vehicles (multi-axle trucks, trailers, and other heavy vehicles).
- Strong knowledge of transport regulations, fleet operations, and statutory compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Transport Management Systems (TMS)/logistics software.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
