1. Job Purpose
The Sales Manager – Marine will be responsible for driving revenue growth, business development and customer acquisition for SHM Shipcare across the marine and offshore sector.
The role will focus on developing relationships with shipowners, ship managers, vessel operators, fleet managers, technical superintendents, procurement teams, shipyards, offshore companies and other maritime stakeholders, while promoting SHM’s portfolio of marine safety products, services and vessel-support solutions.
The successful candidate will be expected to generate new business, grow existing accounts, develop strategic customer relationships and achieve agreed sales and profitability targets.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Business Development & Sales
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue, gross margin and business development targets.
- Identify and generate new business opportunities IN regional maritime markets.
- Develop new accounts across shipowners, ship management companies, shipyards, offshore operators and marine service companies.
- Promote SHM’s complete portfolio of LSA, FFA, GMDSS/marine electronics, inspection, servicing, certification, ship stores and related marine solutions.
- Identify opportunities for Fleet Service Agreements (FSA), annual maintenance contracts and recurring service business.
- Prepare commercial proposals, quotations and tenders and drive them through to closure.
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and ensure timely follow-up of enquiries and opportunities.
B. Key Account Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
- Regularly meet Fleet Managers, Technical Superintendents, Procurement Managers, Vessel Managers and senior decision-makers.
- Understand customer fleet requirements and identify opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Develop account plans for key customers and strategically grow wallet share.
C. Marine Market Development
- Map the marine market and identify potential customer segments and growth areas.
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing, market trends and customer requirements.
- Identify upcoming vessel maintenance, inspection, dry-docking, certification and equipment-replacement requirements.
- Develop relationships with shipyards, port-related organisations, marine contractors and other industry stakeholders.
- Represent SHM at relevant marine exhibitions, conferences, seminars and networking events.
D. Customer & Internal Coordination
- Coordinate with technical, operations, service, procurement and finance teams to ensure smooth execution of customer requirements.
- Understand technical requirements and work with the internal technical team to develop appropriate solutions.
- Ensure accurate communication of customer specifications, timelines and commercial commitments.
- Support resolution of customer complaints and service issues.
E. Commercial & Financial Responsibilities
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets.
- Maintain healthy gross margins and ensure commercially viable business.
- Follow up on outstanding payments and support timely collection of receivables.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and opportunity pipelines.
- Provide regular sales reports, market intelligence and business forecasts to management.
Candidate Profile
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Sales or a related discipline.
Experience
4+ years of relevant experience in Marine Sales / Business Development.
- Experience in marine safety, ship supply, ship chandling, ship repair, LSA/FFA, marine equipment, marine services or offshore industry preferred.
- Strong existing network among shipowners, ship managers, technical superintendents, procurement teams and shipyards will be a significant advantage.
- Candidates with proven B2B marine sales and business-development achievements will be preferred.
