Role Description:
The Commercial Project Manager is responsible for end to end commercial and financial governance of projects during execution till closure of the orders. The role partners closely with the Project Manager & ensure project profitability, cash discipline, compliance, and transparent financial reporting while driving operational excellence across vendor management, order to delivery tracking, customer billing as well as site management.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Commercial & Financial Governance:
Ensure project books of accounts reflect a true and fair view, in line with applicable accounting standards, internal financial reporting guidelines, and statutory requirements.- Perform project controlling activities including budgeting, forecasting, cost controlling, plan cost updates, margin analysis, and regular project performance reviews with the project team.
Vendor Management & Order to Delivery Tracking:
Partner with Procurement and Project teams to manage vendors and suppliers from a commercial and financial perspective.- Track purchase orders, delivery milestones, goods receipt, service confirmations, and vendor invoicing, ensuring alignment with contractual terms and project timelines.
- Monitor open purchase orders, commitments, and accruals to ensure accurate cost forecasting and timely financial closure.
- Support resolution of commercial issues with vendors, including claims, variations, and reconciliation matters.
Customer Billing & Receivables Management:
Timely customer invoicing in line with contractual milestones & liquidation of contract assets.- Actively track outstanding receivables and support regional sales BA partners in collection.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Optimization:
Proactively optimize operating working capital across receivables, payables, advances, milestones, and inventory to ensure positive free cash flow.- Monitor cash drivers and flag risks or deviations early, enabling timely corrective actions.
Risk, Opportunity & Stakeholder Management:
Work closely with the Project Manager and Site Managers to identify, assess, and manage risks and opportunities, including development of mitigation strategies and response actions.- Support effective commercial collaboration with partners, subcontractors, vendors, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
Compliance, Audit & Governance:
Ensure compliance with Transfer Pricing policies, Direct and Indirect tax regulations, and internal control requirements (ICFR).- Drive timely completion of quarterly, statutory, and internal audits, including preparation of documentation and responses to audit observations.
- Act as a key interface with internal and external auditors, ensuring transparent and professional audit management
Digitalization & Process Excellence:
Contribute to and drive digitalization initiatives in project controlling, including automation, analytics, and enhanced financial insights.- Support continuous improvement of financial processes, reporting quality, and management dashboards.
Experience & Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of project accounting, project controlling, and commercial governance.
- Experience across: Project controlling & financial analysis, Vendor & customer commercial management, Accounting, Indirect taxation, financial planning & reporting, Project audits and compliance
- Hands-on experience in SAP and advanced proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access, Tableau etc.

- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of engaging with project teams, auditors, vendors, and customers.
- Strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and delivery.
- Proactive business partner mindset with the ability to challenge constructively and drive disciplined execution in complex project environments.
We don’t need superheroes, just super minds:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in projects, managing small-scale or mid-scale projects
- Knowledge of contract frameworks (e.g., EPC, or construction contracts)
- Project management certificate is mandatory
