About us
Foundation Programme
The Foundation Programme is a core component of the undergraduate curriculum at Ahmedabad University, undertaken by all first-year students. It consists of three intensive, four-week interdisciplinary Studio courses on Democracy and Justice, Environment and Climate Change, and Water.
These Studios are designed to introduce students to university-level inquiry through interdisciplinary perspectives, experiential learning, and critical reflection. Learning takes place through a combination of lectures, discussions, collaborative studio work, and field-based or activity-driven engagements.
For each Studio, we seek Teaching Assistants who are deeply invested in teaching and learning, curious about engaging with ideas across disciplines, and motivated to support students as they encounter unfamiliar concepts, methods, and ways of thinking.
Role Summary
Teaching Assistants / Studio Associates play a central role in shaping students’ learning experiences within the Foundation Programme Studios. Working closely with faculty coordinators, TAs support both the intellectual and pedagogic dimensions of the courses.
While morning sessions are typically led by faculty through lectures and discussions, Teaching Assistants are expected to actively engage in these sessions and then take a lead role in facilitating afternoon studio activities. This includes helping students translate theoretical ideas into practice, supporting collaborative learning, and fostering inclusive and reflective classroom environments.
This position is particularly suited to individuals who see teaching and mentorship as a shared learning process and who enjoy working in interdisciplinary academic settings.
