Key Responsibilities
Melting Operations
1. Supervise day-to-day melting operations and furnace activities.
2. Ensure furnaces are operated as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).
3. Monitor furnace charging, melting cycle, temperature, tapping, and pouring activities.
4. Ensure proper charge-mix preparation and availability of required raw materials.
3. Maintain the required melting temperature and chemical composition.
Quality Control
1. Coordinate with the Quality/Lab team for chemical analysis and temperature checks.
2. Ensure corrective action is taken when the metal composition or temperature is outside the specified limits.
3. Maintain proper records of charge mix, heat number, temperature, chemical analysis, and tapping details.
4. Minimize rejection, rework, and metal loss.
Manpower Management
1. Allocate operators and workers to furnaces and related activities.
2. Monitor attendance, discipline, productivity, and work performance.
3. Ensure adequate manpower is available for all shifts.
4. Train and guide operators on melting procedures, safety, and 5S.
5. Coordinate with contractors for manpower requirements when necessary.
Production Planning
1. Execute the daily melting plan as per production requirements.
2. Coordinate with the molding/casting and other departments for timely molten-metal supply.
3. Monitor furnace utilization, cycle time, output, and downtime.
4. Take immediate action to minimize production interruptions.
