Job Title: Fabric Merchandiser
Department: Merchandising / Production
Location: Kewal Industries, Lower Parel, Mumbai
Reports To: Production Head / Design Head
Job Overview:
A Fabric Merchandiser is responsible for sourcing, developing, and managing fabrics required for garment production. This role ensures timely availability of quality materials, cost efficiency, and coordination between vendors, designers, and production teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabric Sourcing & Development:
- Identify and source fabrics based on design requirements and trends
- Develop new fabrics, prints, textures, and finishes as per brand aesthetics
- Coordinate with mills, suppliers, and vendors for sampling
- Vendor Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with fabric suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and quality standards
- Evaluate vendor performance regularly
- Sampling & Approvals:
- Ensure timely development and approval of fabric samples (lab dips, swatches, yardage)
- Coordinate with design and production teams for approvals
- Production Coordination:
- Ensure fabrics are delivered on time for production schedules
- Monitor fabric consumption, wastage, and inventory
- Resolve issues related to fabric quality, delays, or discrepancies
- Quality Control:
- Conduct fabric inspections for color, texture, shrinkage, and defects
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
- Costing & Budgeting:
- Maintain fabric costing sheets
- Work within budget constraints while ensuring quality
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain records of orders, samples, approvals, and vendor details
- Generate reports on fabric status, delays, and inventory
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design, Fashion Technology, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in fabric merchandising or sourcing
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, textiles, dyeing, and printing processes
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills
- Good understanding of garment production timelines
- Strong coordination and communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel and basic merchandising tools

Job Type: Permanent
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
