Field Practice is an important curricular component of the Development programme. The goal of field practice is to enable students to understand challenges and to help integrate broader concepts of their discipline with practice. As a Field Practice Coordinator, you will ensure smooth implementation of the field practice components.
Responsibilities:
1. Planning of all field components of the programme:
- Helping in selecting suitable field organisations for the field practice components for the programme.
- Familiarising with the work of different organisations where students would be located for their field practice engagement.
- Coordinating and organising consultative workshops with relevant organisations to share program requirements, shared expectations and facilitation of processes.
- Finalising of field sites (organisations, networks, collectives) for each component where students would be located.
2. Coordinating logistics for all the five field components of the programme which entails coordinating with organisations, students, and faculty. It would involve the following:
- Coordinating and organising orientations for students (conducting financial orientation and facilitating the academic orientation to be done by faculty members).
- Connecting with relevant teams in the university for calendaring, booking of classrooms, and other logistics including Internal Research Board (IRB) approvals and communications.
- Ensuring periodic orientation of students, reiterating the learning objectives, expectations from organisations, field practice ethics, etc.
- Facilitating students’ learning in the field by visiting field sites and providing required support (or guide them to concerned team for the support).
- Connecting with faculty for timely sharing of timelines, relevant documents and information and receiving grades and feedback on students’ work.
- Coordinating with students for timely submission of all assignments of the field practice components.
- Handling all communications related to students and organisations.
- Record-keeping and coordinating the financial aspects, especially student financial aid.
