Regulatory Compliance & Documentation

Ensure full compliance with national/local EHS regulations, statutory requirements, permits, and codes.

Maintain documentation and audit readiness for ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and internal/external assessments.

Ensure compliance with environmental norms and statutory reporting requirements.
EHS Systems, SOPs & Emergency Preparedness
-
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS procedures, SOPs, and emergency response plans.

Maintain and inspect fire protection systems (hydrants, extinguishers, alarms, detectors, emergency lighting).

Coordinate fire drills, evacuation exercises, and emergency preparedness activities, ensuring timely servicing and certification of fire safety equipment.
Contractor Safety Management
-
Manage contractor safety through PTW, JHA, WMS reviews, and continuous performance monitoring.

Conduct competency assessments and ensure adherence to safe work practices.
Incident Management & Safety Culture
-
Investigate reportable and non-reportable incidents using established tools.
-
Prepare detailed incident reports with corrective and preventive actions; track closure to prevent recurrence.

Promote HAZINER and safety concern reporting to strengthen proactive hazard identification.

Communicate key learnings across teams to enhance safety culture.
Training & Awareness
-
Conduct EHS induction, refresher training, and competency evaluations for employees and contractors.

Develop toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and awareness programs to improve safety behaviour and risk awareness.
Audits, Inspections & Monitoring
-
Plan and execute internal EHS audits, 5S audits, and routine site inspections.
-
Support external audits by certification bodies, clients, and corporate teams.
-
Coordinate weekly 5S and safety audits across Bangalore locations.
-
Conduct environmental monitoring (air, water, noise, illumination, ventilation) and maintain statutory records.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, HR, and other departments to integrate EHS into daily activities.

Provide guidance on safe work practices and ensure alignment across teams.
Process Safety & Engineering Controls

Conduct process safety reviews for new equipment, machinery, and modifications (MOC).
-
Perform HIRA, PSSR, and other process safety evaluations prior to commissioning to ensure all safeguards are in place.
Education and Experience Required:
- 7–10 years of relevant EHS experience in manufacturing, chemical, or process‑industry environments.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science, with a Chemical background preferred.

Professional EHS certifications such as NEBOSH, PGDIS, or equivalent are preferred.

Strong understanding of Government Rules & Regulations, statutory compliance, and applicable EHS frameworks.

A well-rounded combination of education, formal training, and hands-on experience is essential to perform the role effectively.

Strong understanding of EHS legislation, ISO standards, and audit processes.
-
Hands-on experience in PTW, JHA, WMS, HIRA, PSSR, and MOC processes.

Ability to conduct incident investigations and develop CAPA.

Proficiency in EHS documentation, dashboards, KPIs, and reporting.

Effective communication, training, and cross-functional coordination skills.

The Senior Specialist - Safety is responsible for ensuring overall compliance with national and local EHS regulations, driving safety culture, maintaining audit readiness, and integrating EHS practices into daily operations.
The role involves managing environmental, health, and safety systems, contractor safety, process safety, and emergency preparedness across the facility and associated plant locations (CKB and DDB)
