A Lathe Operator operates a lathe machine to shape or form metal, wood or other materials mostly in manufacturing or production settings.
Lathe Operator is responsible for measuring and cutting materials to specific dimensions, monitoring the machine to ensure it is running correctly, and knowing how to make adjustments as necessary.
Monitor machine performance during operation, making adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and tolerances.
Perform basic lathe operations like turning, facing, threading, and boring.
Handle material in and out of a lathe machine according to specific procedures and guidelines.
Operate the lathe machine effectively and correctly to produce parts to the required specification for the job.
Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces for cutting or shaping.
Set up and adjust machine controls, speeds, and feed rates to achieve the desired results.
