A Quality Control (QC) Chemist specializing in HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) is responsible for testing raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet strict regulatory and safety standards. This role heavily relies on executing chemical separations to accurately identify and quantify various molecular components.
Core Responsibilities
- HPLC Operations: Prepare samples and mobile phases, operate equipment, and run qualitative/quantitative chromatographic analyses.
- Testing & Analysis: Perform routine testing alongside other instrumental methods like UV-Vis Spectroscopy, Karl Fischer, and FTIR.
- Calibration & Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of analytical instruments to ensure peak performance and accuracy.
- Data Documentation: Record all test results, method validation data, and observations. Prepare Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and maintain strict adherence to laboratory software protocols.
- Compliance: Ensure all laboratory work follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and established Standard Operating Procedures
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, or a closely related scientific field.
- Experience: Typically requires 1 to 3 or more years of hands-on experience in a pharmaceutical, food, or chemical manufacturing QC setting.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of HPLC principles (reverse-phase, normal phase, gradient/isocratic), data interpretation, and method development.
- Physical & Soft Skills: Excellent analytical problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail for documentation, and the ability to lift/carry light-to-medium laboratory supplies
