Job Description – Metalwork Designer (Architectural & Structural)
Key Responsibilities:
· Produce 2D/3D GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation details for metalwork projects.
. Work on bespoke metalwork systems, including Balconies, balustrades, staircases, gates, and other bespoke metal fabrications.
. Raise and oversee RFI’s
. Ensure full compliance with UK Building Regulations, British Standards (BS EN), Eurocodes, and relevant safety standards.
. Collaborate with structural engineers, architects, and project managers to deliver practical, buildable designs.
. Provide design revisions, updates, and maintain accurate drawing records and version control.
. Assist with material take-offs, cutting lists, and fabrication coordination.
. Maintain awareness of UK best practices, material specifications, and construction detailing.
. Participate in design and construction meetings as needed
. Create and maintain design documentation..
Requirements:
· Degree/Diploma in Civil, or Structural Engineering / Design, or equivalent.
· 3–7 years’ experience in metalwork, architectural steel, or structural detailing.
· Strong proficiency proficiency in AutoCAD & Tekla is necessary.
Other software experience desirable.
· Hands-on experience with UK projects and a thorough understanding of Eurocodes and British Standards is non-negotiable.
· Excellent ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings.
· Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and collaborative communication.
