Overview

Witty School is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Finance Manager to oversee all financial operations and ensure the financial health of the institution. The Finance Manager will play a critical role in budgeting, financial planning, reporting, compliance, and managing day-to-day financial activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, a passion for education, and a commitment to upholding the school's mission and values.

Responsibilities

- Financial Planning & Budgeting
- Develop, manage, and monitor the school’s annual budget.
- Work closely with senior leadership to prepare long-term financial plans and projections.
- Advise school leadership on financial trends, potential risks, and opportunities for growth.
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data to the board of directors and school management.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Ensure accurate and efficient processing of financial transactions.
- Reconcile bank statements, monitor cash flow, and maintain financial controls.
- Compliance & Auditing
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and other financial regulations.
- Cash Flow Management
- Monitor cash flow to ensure the school maintains a healthy financial position.
- Work closely with the administration to manage tuition collection and other revenue sources.
- Oversee the management of investments and endowment funds, if applicable.
- Team Management & Development
- Supervise and support the finance department staff (e.g., accountants, bookkeepers).
- Provide training and professional development opportunities to ensure a high-performing team.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the finance department.
- Other Duties
- Collaborate with department heads to align financial goals with educational objectives.
- Provide ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as requested by the leadership team.
- Support the development and execution of financial strategies aligned with the school's long-term goals.

Skills Description

- Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and budgeting processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, etc.) and ERP systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
