Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lead / Principal Hardware Engineer with a strong background in DO-254 and DO-160G standards, complex board-level hardware design, requirements engineering, and qualification testing for aerospace systems.
The ideal candidate will lead and contribute to the end-to-end lifecycle of avionics hardware development, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and delivering high-reliability, safety-critical systems for airborne applications.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the design and development of complex multi-layer (16+ layer) digital and mixed-signal PCBs for aerospace applications.
· Perform schematic capture, component selection, and PCB layout reviews for high-density and high-reliability designs.
· Ensure hardware development processes comply with DO-254 Level A/B/C requirements. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including:
· Hardware development plans Requirements specifications Design descriptions Traceability matrices
· Capture, analyze, and allocate hardware requirements from system requirements in accordance with DO-254 processes, ensuring correctness, completeness, consistency, and testability.
· Develop and maintain hardware requirements documentation, including derived requirements, requirement decomposition, bidirectional traceability, and change impact analysis throughout the hardware development lifecycle.
· Plan and execute environmental and EMI/EMC qualification testing in accordance with DO-160G standards.
· Coordinate with external test laboratories and certification authorities to achieve successful qualifications.
· Collaborate with systems and software teams to derive and document hardware requirements.
· Ensure end-to-end traceability from system-level requirements to hardware implementation and verification.
· Develop and execute hardware verification plans, procedures, and test cases.
· Conduct design reviews including PDR , CDR etc, inspections, and formal verification to validate functionality and regulatory compliance.
· Mentor junior engineers and support project planning, estimation, and scheduling.
· Work closely with cross-functional teams, including systems, software, and certification stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
· 7–14 years of experience in aerospace hardware development.
· Strong expertise in DO-254 and DO-160 standards.
· Hands-on experience in DO-254 hardware requirements engineering, including requirements capture, decomposition, validation, allocation, and traceability using requirement management tools such as DOORS or Polarion.
· Strong understanding of requirements-driven hardware development lifecycle, including requirements reviews, derived requirements management, verification planning, and compliance evidence generation for certification
· Hands-on experience with board design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics).
· Proficiency in requirement management tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion).
· Experience with lab equipment for testing and debugging (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.).
