We are expanding our strategic accounts business and are looking for a high-performing Key Account Manager who can build long-term relationships with India's leading research organizations and convert opportunities into sustainable business.
The Opportunity
This is not a routine sales position.
We are looking for someone who enjoys engaging with scientists, principal investigators, purchase departments, and research institutions to create long-term business partnerships. The ideal candidate will own strategic accounts, identify new opportunities, coordinate with international suppliers, and drive growth across North India.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow strategic government and institutional accounts, including:
- CSIR Laboratories
- ICMR Institutes
- IITs
- Central & State Universities
- DRDO Laboratories
- ICAR Institutes
- AIIMS & Medical Research Institutes
- NABL-accredited testing laboratories
- Develop relationships with Directors, Principal Investigators, Scientists, Purchase Officers, and Technical Teams.
- Identify upcoming projects, grants, tenders, and procurement opportunities.
- Prepare strategic account plans with revenue targets and growth initiatives.
- Coordinate quotations, technical discussions, commercial negotiations, and order closures.
- Work closely with international manufacturers and supplier partners for pricing, product positioning, and business development.
- Monitor competitor activities and identify opportunities to increase market share.
- Lead negotiations for annual rate contracts and institutional agreements.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction through proactive account management and after-sales coordination.
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and CRM with opportunity forecasting.
- Represent the company at scientific conferences, exhibitions, and institutional meetings.
- Travel regularly across the assigned territory.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for professionals who possess:
- 5–10+ years of B2B scientific sales or key account management experience.
- Proven experience handling government or institutional customers.
- Strong understanding of laboratory chemicals, analytical reagents, chromatography products, reference standards, laboratory instruments, or life science products.
- Experience working with research organizations such as CSIR, ICMR, IITs, ICAR, universities, pharmaceutical companies, or testing laboratories.
- Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills.
- Ability to communicate confidently with senior scientists and decision-makers.
- Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
- Self-driven, disciplined, and capable of managing a large territory independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related disciplines.
- MBA in Marketing or Business Management is an advantage.
- Experience with CRM systems, tender management, and institutional procurement processes will be preferred.
