1. Technical Inspections & Testing
- Mechanical Systems: Conducting thorough checks of brakes, steering, suspension, and tires to ensure they function according to manufacturer and legal specifications.
- Safety Features: Verifying the integrity of seatbelts, airbags, mirrors, and lighting systems (headlights, indicators, brake lights).
- Emissions Testing: Using specialized diagnostic equipment to measure exhaust gases and ensure the vehicle complies with environmental regulations.
- Structural Integrity: Checking the chassis and bodywork for excessive corrosion, damage, or unauthorized modifications that could compromise safety.
2. Compliance & Legal Verification
- Identity Verification: Checking Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN), engine numbers, and license plates against official documentation to prevent fraud or the use of stolen parts.
- Regulatory Audits: Ensuring heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), public transport, and commercial fleets adhere to specific weight and loading regulations.
- Certification: Issuing roadworthiness certificates (such as an MOT in the UK or similar fitness certificates) or providing detailed reports on why a vehicle failed inspection.
3. Diagnostics & Reporting
- Computer Diagnostics: Using OBD-II scanners and other software to identify hidden faults in the Engine Control Unit (ECU) or electronic safety systems.
- Detailed Documentation: Creating comprehensive digital or paper reports for every inspection, noting even minor defects that may require future attention.
- Advisory Guidance: Explaining technical failures to vehicle owners or fleet managers and providing guidance on necessary repairs to meet legal standards.
4. Investigation & Specialized Tasks
- Accident Reconstruction: In some roles, examiners inspect vehicles involved in serious collisions to determine if a mechanical failure contributed to the accident.
- Modified Vehicles: Assessing customized or imported vehicles to ensure they have been modified safely and remain street-legal.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
