The Electrician & Plumbing Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of electrical systems, plumbing systems, water supply lines, drainage systems, and related equipment within the institution/campus premises. The role ensures uninterrupted utility services, safety compliance, and timely maintenance support.
Key Responsibilities - Electrical Maintenance
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, switches, sockets, lighting systems, fans, and electrical equipment.
- Monitor and maintain generators, UPS systems, inverters, and electrical panels.
- Identify electrical faults and carry out corrective actions immediately.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure electrical safety standards are followed.
- Maintain power backup systems and coordinate servicing when required.
- Ensure proper functioning of classroom, office, hostel, and laboratory electrical systems.
Plumbing Maintenance
- Install, repair, and maintain pipelines, water tanks, taps, wash basins, toilets, drainage systems, and sanitary fittings.
- Attend to water leakage, blockage, and drainage issues promptly.
- Monitor water supply systems and ensure uninterrupted water availability.
- Carry out preventive maintenance for plumbing and sanitary systems.
- Inspect pumps, motors, and water distribution systems regularly.
General Maintenance Duties
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls immediately.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities and repairs completed.
- Ensure proper usage and safekeeping of maintenance tools and materials.
- Coordinate with external vendors/service providers when major repairs are required.
- Follow safety procedures and institutional maintenance policies.
- Support campus infrastructure maintenance activities as assigned.
Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Electrician, Wireman, Plumbing, or related technical field.
- Valid electrical license preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in electrical and plumbing maintenance.
- Experience in educational institutions, hospitals, hotels, or commercial establishments preferred.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of electrical wiring and plumbing systems.
- Troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Basic knowledge of safety standards and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to handle emergency repair work.
- Teamwork and time management skills.
- Physically fit for maintenance-related activities.
Working Conditions
- May require shift duty or emergency support during breakdowns.
- Work may involve climbing ladders, lifting equipment, and working in maintenance areas.
