Business Analyst - General Insurance
Purpose of the Role
To analyze business processes, gather and document requirements, support system implementations, and drive operational improvements across General Insurance functions such as Motor, Health, Property, Marine, Liability, and Claims.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Requirements Gathering
- Interact with business users, underwriters, claims teams, operations teams, and management.
- Conduct workshops and requirement gathering sessions.
- Document Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Requirement Documents (FRD), and user stories.
- Translate business needs into functional specifications for IT teams.
2. Insurance Process Analysis- Analyze and improve processes related to:
- Policy Administration
- Underwriting
- Claims Management
- Renewals
- Customer Service
- Reinsurance
- Agent/Broker Operations
3. System and Digital Transformation Projects
- Support implementation of Core Insurance Systems.
- Work on digital initiatives such as:
- Customer Portals
- Mobile Applications
- Claims Automation
- AI-driven Underwriting
- Workflow Management Systems
- Coordinate testing and deployment activities.
4. Stakeholder Management
- Act as liaison between business and technology teams.
- Manage expectations of stakeholders.
- Facilitate discussions to resolve requirement and process gaps.
5. Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze policy, claims, premium, and customer data.
- Generate business insights and dashboards.
- Support decision-making through data-driven recommendations.
- Work with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or SQL databases.
6. Regulatory and Compliance Support
- Ensure requirements comply with IRDAI regulations.
- Support audit and compliance initiatives.
- Assist in implementing regulatory changes across systems and processes.
7. Testing and Quality Assurance
- Prepare test scenarios and test cases.
- Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Validate business functionality before production release.
- Track defects and coordinate resolution.
