Role Summary
The Purchase Manager runs end-to-end procurement — sourcing HVAC equipment, spares, copper piping, refrigerant gases, cabling, and allied materials at the right price, quality, and timeline. The role balances cost control with supply continuity, manages supplier relationships, and ensures materials are available to meet project and service commitments across our South India operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full procurement cycle: requirement planning, sourcing, negotiation, purchase order issuance, delivery follow-up, and closure.
- Source and procure HVAC equipment, spares, copper pipes, refrigerant gases, cable wire, and related materials in line with project and service demand.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to optimize cost without compromising quality or timelines.
- Develop and manage the supplier base — evaluate, onboard, and maintain vendors; reduce single-supplier dependency and concentration risk.
- Monitor material prices (especially volatile commodities like copper and refrigerants) and time purchases to protect margins.
- Coordinate with projects, service, and stores teams to forecast requirements and maintain optimal inventory levels — avoiding both stockouts and overstocking.
- Track purchase orders against budgets and flag variances; maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to sites and warehouses, coordinating logistics and transportation cost-effectively.
- Verify quality and specifications of incoming materials in coordination with technical and stores teams.
- Prepare procurement reports and cost analyses for management, including spend analysis and savings tracking.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, approval workflows, and applicable statutory/GST requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical preferred), Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of procurement experience, preferably in HVAC, electrical, MEP, construction, or industrial products.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC materials — equipment, copper piping, refrigerants, cabling — and their market dynamics.
- Proven negotiation skills and a track record of cost savings.
- Solid understanding of supplier management, inventory principles, and procurement documentation.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with ERP/procurement software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Awareness of GST, purchase compliance, and vendor statutory requirements.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience procuring for both project execution and after-sales service operations.
- Familiarity with the South India supplier landscape for HVAC and allied materials.
- Ability to analyze spend data and drive strategic sourcing decisions.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with projects, service, stores, and finance.
