The Senior Resident in Orthopaedics is responsible for providing comprehensive clinical care to patients with musculoskeletal injuries, trauma, fractures, degenerative disorders, and other orthopaedic conditions. The role includes inpatient and outpatient management, emergency and trauma care, pre-operative and post-operative management, assisting in orthopaedic surgeries, and supporting academic and departmental activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions in OPD, IPD, emergency, and trauma settings.
- Assess and provide treatment for fractures, dislocations, sports injuries, spinal conditions, joint disorders, and other orthopaedic problems.
- Provide initial stabilization and emergency management of trauma and accident cases.
- Perform clinical examination, formulate treatment plans, and ensure timely investigations and interventions.
- Monitor admitted patients and provide daily review, treatment modifications, and follow-up care.
- Manage pre-operative assessment and post-operative care of orthopaedic patients.
- Assist/perform bedside orthopaedic procedures such as application of casts, splints, traction, wound care, suturing, and joint aspiration as per competency.
- Ensure proper pain management, rehabilitation advice, and discharge planning for patients.
Surgical Responsibilities
- Assist consultants/faculty in elective and emergency orthopaedic surgeries.
- Participate in operation theatre procedures including fracture fixation, joint procedures, trauma surgeries, and other orthopaedic interventions as assigned.
- Maintain proper documentation of operative notes, consent forms, and post-operative instructions.
- Follow aseptic precautions and OT protocols during all procedures.
Emergency / Trauma Care
- Attend orthopaedic emergencies and trauma calls promptly.
- Coordinate management of polytrauma and emergency cases with EMO, surgery, anaesthesia, ICU, radiology, and other departments.
- Ensure timely decision-making regarding admission, surgical intervention, referral, or escalation to consultant.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate patient records, case sheets, progress notes, discharge summaries, and procedure documentation.
- Handle medico-legal cases related to trauma and accidents as per hospital protocols.
- Ensure adherence to NABH/NMC guidelines, infection control practices, biomedical waste management, and patient safety standards.
- Participate in departmental audits and reporting of clinical outcomes where required.
Coordination & Teamwork
- Work closely with consultants, nursing staff, physiotherapy, radiology, OT staff, and emergency teams for coordinated patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and attendants regarding diagnosis, treatment plan, surgery, prognosis, and rehabilitation.
Eligibility / Qualification
- MS / DNB in Orthopaedics from a recognized institution as per NMC norms.
- Valid registration with NMC / State Medical Council.
- Prior experience in a tertiary care hospital / teaching institution will be preferred.
Pay: ₹1,199,999.00 - ₹1,200,000.00 per year
