Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead FPGA Design Engineer to drive the architecture, design, and development of advanced FPGA-based systems for high-performance aerospace, defence, and embedded technology applications.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in FPGA design, RTL development, high-speed interfaces, and system integration, along with proven leadership experience managing complex engineering projects.
This role offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and engage with premier defence and research organizations, including DRDO laboratories.
Key Responsibilities: FPGA Architecture & Design Leadership
- Lead the architecture, design, and development of complex high-speed digital systems using FPGAs.
- Own the complete RTL design lifecycle, including:
- Requirements analysis
- Architecture definition
- RTL coding
- Simulation and verification
- Synthesis and implementation
- Timing closure
- Hardware validation
- Define system architecture, interface specifications, and design trade-offs to optimize performance, power, and cost.
- Drive FPGA design best practices, coding standards, and development processes.
Technical Leadership
- Mentor and guide FPGA engineers across projects.
- Conduct design reviews and technical assessments.
- Provide technical direction for complex engineering challenges.
- Ensure high-quality design execution and project delivery.
System Integration & High-Speed Interfaces
- Integrate and optimize high-speed IPs and interfaces, including:
- PCIe
- 10G/25G Ethernet
- JESD
- GT/MAC Transceivers
- DDR Memory Interfaces
- AXI-4
- Collaborate with hardware, software, systems, and validation teams to define requirements and verification strategies.
- Support firmware and software integration for FPGA-based systems.
Verification & Validation
- Lead verification planning and execution.
- Develop and review testbenches, simulation environments, and validation strategies.
- Perform board bring-up, debugging, hardware validation, and performance tuning.
- Identify and resolve complex issues during development, testing, and deployment.
Stakeholder & Project Management
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including DRDO laboratories and other defence/research organizations.
- Support project planning, execution, technical reviews, and customer interactions.
- Maintain project documentation and technical reports.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong expertise in digital design fundamentals and FPGA-based system development.
- Proven experience architecting and implementing complex FPGA solutions.
- Extensive experience with high-speed interfaces:
- PCIe
- 10G/25G Ethernet
- JESD
- High-Speed ADC/DAC Interfaces
- High-Speed Serial Transceivers
- Hands-on experience with FPGA platforms from:
- AMD (Xilinx)
- Intel (Altera)
- Microchip
- Strong knowledge of:
- Timing Closure
- CDC (Clock Domain Crossing)
- Constraints Development
- Performance Optimization
- Excellent debugging and hardware troubleshooting skills using:
- Oscilloscopes
- Logic Analyzers
- Digital Multimeters (DMM)
- Experience collaborating with defence, aerospace, or research organizations, preferably DRDO laboratories.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
