About the Role
RVN India is looking for a seasoned Lead Mechanical Engineer to spearhead high-value engineering projects from our Chennai OMR office. As we continue to act as a strategic partner for global energy and EPC giants, you will be responsible for the technical integrity, schedule, and quality of mechanical deliverables. This role requires a balance of deep technical design expertise and the ability to coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams in different time zones.
Key Responsibilities
· Technical Leadership & Design
· Lead the execution of FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and Detailed Engineering for mechanical equipment and systems.
· Perform and verify complex calculations for Static Equipment (Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Tanks) and Rotating Equipment (Pumps, Compressors).
· Ensure all designs comply with international codes such as ASME Section VIII, API 650/620, and TEMA.
· Oversee the preparation of Mechanical Data Sheets, Technical Specifications, and Material Requisitions.
· Project Coordination
· Serve as the primary technical point of contact for US-based project managers and global clients.
· Lead Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) and manage vendor document reviews to ensure alignment with project requirements.
· Collaborate closely with Process, Piping, and I&C teams to ensure seamless multi-disciplinary integration.
· Quality & Compliance
· Review and approve drawings (GA drawings, Fabrication drawings) and engineering deliverables.
· Participate in safety reviews, including HAZOP and HAZID sessions.
· Ensure the team adheres to RVN’s Quality Management System (QMS) and project-specific safety standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: 10+ years of core engineering experience, specifically within the Oil & Gas, Power, or EPC sectors.
Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with industry-standard software such as PV Elite, Compress, or CAESAR II. Familiarity with AutoCAD and 3D modeling environments (E3D/S3D) for review purposes.
Standards: Mastery of ASME, API, ANSI, and ASTM codes.
Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills suitable for a global corporate environment; ability to mentor junior engineers and manage deliverables under tight deadlines.
Preferred Attributes
Experience working with Tier-1 EPC firms (e.g., Worley, Technip, McDermott, KBR).
Prior experience in a lead role for North American or Middle Eastern energy projects.
Familiarity with OMR-based engineering workflows and local vendor ecosystems in Chennai.
