Purchase Engineer
Department: Procurement / Supply Chain
Reports To: Purchase Manager / Procurement Head
Experience: 2–5 Years (Freshers with relevant internships may also be considered)
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
Job Summary
The Purchase Engineer is responsible for sourcing and procuring raw materials, engineering components, equipment, and services required for production and projects. The role ensures timely procurement at the best quality, competitive pricing, and within delivery schedules while maintaining strong vendor relationships and supporting uninterrupted operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure engineering materials, components, and equipment as per technical specifications.
- Float RFQs (Request for Quotations), obtain vendor quotations, and prepare comparative statements.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contractual conditions with suppliers.
- Evaluate and develop new vendors based on quality, cost, delivery, and technical capability.
- Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and monitor order execution until successful delivery.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Stores, Quality, and Finance teams to ensure material availability.
- Review engineering drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and technical specifications before procurement.
- Track supplier performance and resolve quality or delivery-related issues.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternate sourcing and value engineering.
- Maintain procurement records, vendor databases, and documentation in ERP systems.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and statutory requirements.
- Prepare procurement reports, MIS, and purchasing analytics.
Required Skills
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain management.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Good understanding of technical materials and industrial components.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Tally, or equivalent) and MS Excel.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Time management and ability to work under deadlines.
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience in vendor development and strategic sourcing is preferred.
Pay: ₹10,862.16 - ₹20,000.00 per month
